Smartphone manufacturers are not going to stick to assimilating fingerprint scanners on handsets for much longer now. With LG G5 expected to feature a Retinal Scanner, followed by Samsung’s future devices, and the recently announced Fujitsu Arrow NX F-04G, TCL is also prepping a Retinal Scanner smartphone that will blow away the competition in terms of pricing. After all, how many consumers would expect the company’s 3S to feature a Retinal Scanner and that too, stamped with an affordable price tag of only $129. It appears that Chinese smartphone manufacturers have a much better control over the market in terms of price and performance.
TCL 3S Runs A Snapdragon 615, 1080p Display And A Category 4 LTE Modem For Just $129
TCL 3S was spotted on a Weibo site sporting a 5 inch display with a resolution measuring in at 1920 by 1080 pixels. While most of you might think that the entire price of 3S was thrown away in incorporating the futuristic security feature, it surprisingly turns out that the smartphone boasts a satisfactory configuration. Running a Snapdragon 615 SoC might not be impressive in the eyes of those who just covet smartphones for the sake of witnessing a Snapdragon 810 and Snapdragon 808, but what do you really expect from a $129 device?
Complementing the mobile chipset is 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of on-board storage (which we suspect is going to be expandable). For a $129 device, you will also be able to snap high resolution images through a 13 MP rear camera sensor (which also possesses an aperture of f/2.2). The front side of the chassis features an 8 MP shooter. Furthermore, a Category 4 LTE modem is also present in the device, which is thoroughly impressive once you lay your eyes on the price.
TCL 3S will be available to purchase on June 4. For a price tag of $129, we’d probably be praying ‘to the old gods and the new’ (GoT reference) that the smartphone makes its way outside the market of China. Unfortunately, TCL has not commented on what its future goals happen to be.
Perhaps we will get to know more about the availability of 3S after June 4.
