The Galaxy S26 Ultra, with its unique Privacy Display, was just a testbed for Samsung’s extended plans. According to the latest report, the company won’t force you to purchase the upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra just to experience the same feature, as the Korean giant has a surprise that could bolster the sales of its upcoming lineup.
The Privacy Display that was exclusive to the Galaxy S26 Ultra will be available as a standard feature for all Galaxy S27 models
Whether it’s the standard, Plus, Pro, or Ultra variant of the Galaxy S27 series, The Elec reports that the Privacy Display, also called Flex Magic Pixel technology, will arrive on all four models. This change will be a godsend to those who want to keep prying eyes away from the sensitive details present on their smartphone’s display, as the technology controls the direction of light propagation in the OLED.
However, as Samsung tries to keep some of its market share by introducing exclusive features that the competition is not yet ready for, it’s only a matter of time before its Chinese rivals prepare something similar. The report mentions that both Xiaomi and Huawei are developing their own versions of the Privacy Display. Huawei’s implementation won’t be identical to Samsung’s Flex Magic Pixel, with Xiaomi also bringing some variation into the mix.
As for OPPO and Vivo, they have continued their development, meaning Samsung has only a short window to capitalize on this exclusivity for the Galaxy S27 family before Chinese smartphone makers close the technology gap. Market research firm Sigmaintel believes that privacy displays hold a differentiation factor in the premium smartphone category, and once obstacles like resolution and power consumption have been addressed, the technology will become a mainstream addition.
Sigmaintel also states that global smartphone shipments with this display will reach 29 million units in 2027, resulting in a 40 percent increase compared to 2026, which has currently recorded 21 million shipments so far.
The Galaxy S27 Pro has yet another feature that could propel it into the ‘best seller’ category
With Samsung’s Privacy Display arriving to all Galaxy S27 models next year, the Galaxy S27 Pro has another feature added to its list that could enable the upcoming flagship to grow significantly in popularity. Other additions include a 5,000mAh battery, almost similar camera configuration as the Galaxy S27 Ultra, with the possibility that the Galaxy S27 Pro ships with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro and arrives at a lower price.
In short, during the DRAM shortage, Samsung wants to maintain the momentum of its flagship series, but we’re disappointed that it took the company such a painstakingly long time to introduce something that sits in between the ‘Ultra’ and ‘Plus’ models.
