One of the first recipients of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be the Xiaomi 15 Pro, but its appeal will not just be marked by its impressive hardware specifications but also its design. A tipster notes that the upcoming flagship will have display bezels measuring 0.6mm, exceeding what the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have. Additionally, Xiaomi’s top-end offering is said to arrive with advanced features, which we will discuss here.
Xiaomi 15 Pro is also rumored to match the iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max with its satellite communication capability
Where the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max were said to feature bezels measuring 1.55mm thanks to Apple incorporating ‘low-injection pressure over-molding’ (LIPO) technology, @negativeonehero shares some rumored features of the Xiaomi 15 Pro that will allow the Chinese phone maker’s upcoming flagship to either match or exceed what the two titanium-touting handsets offer, starting with the bezels. At 0.6mm, the Xiaomi 15 Pro could have the highest screen-to-body ratio on the planet, but that is not all.
It is also said to feature an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, though the tipster did not share how much larger it would be compared to its optical counterpart. Last but certainly not least, the Xiaomi 15 Pro will support satellite communication, a feature that Apple introduced with the iPhone 14 series back in 2022, calling it Emergency SOS via Satellite. The premium Android handset may support two-way messaging capability thanks to the Snapdragon X80, which is Qualcomm’s first 5G modem to be integrated with non-terrestrial networks (NTN) satellite communications support.
Xiaomi 15 Pro rumors:
- Rear camera setup: OV50K + JN1 + OV50B, with periscope
- Ultrasonic fingerprint
- Satellite communication
- .6mm bezel
- Releasing in October— Nguyen Phi Hung (@negativeonehero) March 4, 2024
The flagship is said to be announced in October, which is honestly not surprising to hear, given that earlier, a Qualcomm executive announced that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 would be unveiled in the same month. Sadly, pricing details were not shared, but as you can guess, the features set of the Xiaomi 15 Pro suggest that it will not come cheap, so those who can purchase it through official channels should best start saving up.
