While the Xiaomi 15 is expected to launch near the end of 2024, the leaks about the series keep on coming due to reportedly the exceptionally large camera sensor to be added in the upcoming lineup and also for the latest version serving as the inaugural device for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor. Now, the pocket-friendly premium phone has found itself in the center of another leak that further reveals the specifications of the phone.
Xiaomi 15 is to launch in a smaller size, with a flatter screen, and be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset
Previous speculations have all suggested that the upcoming Xiaomi 15 will come with two major design and hardware upgrades. With the new leak by tipster Digital Chat Station, we have more specific details on the vanilla model.
The biggest update with Xiaomi 15 and 15 pro is the series marking its position as the first Android device to be launched with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset that would drastically improve the smartphone's power efficiencies and help boost more enhanced AI capabilities, leading to overall massive performance upgrades.
The latest report gives away the screen size of the Xiaomi 15 lineup. It is apparently to come in a relatively smaller size than the predecessor and be flatter than the standard model, which will have a 1.5K display resolution that will aid in bringing more clarity to the device. Looking at Xiaomi's previous patterns, it usually keeps a disparity between the standard and the premium models by reserving the QHD+ screen for the Pro models and sticking to the FHD+ display resolution for the standard version.
The upcoming lineup would sport a 50MP main camera, a noticeably higher jump from the Xiaomi 14's camera sensor. Another significant mention in the leaks is regarding the aperture main camera that had grabbed quite the attention previously, with rumors pointing towards a variable lens opening that could have allowed more control regarding the depth of the field. Since the flexibility would have required more space than with the generally used fixed aperture, it looks like the company would be dropping the option of adjusting the aperture to the desired level. The leaked specifications only mention a larger aperture main camera, which could indicate the company's plan to not move with the variable main camera this time around.
Looking at Xiaomi's history of going ahead with the releases in a defined way, the company always keeps the flagship phones exclusive for China and opts for an October release, followed by a global release at MWC held next year. So, the wait would be a little prolonged if you plan to get your hands on the global Xiaomi 15.
Given how the upcoming Xiaomi 15 lineup is being compared directly with the Galaxy S25, many tech enthusiasts are suggesting the Xiaomi 15 would take the lead with its efficient power usage and advanced performance capabilities coming to the flagship model.
