After they opened a dedicated software update centre, a lot of LG devices have been on a receiving end of major software updates. The likes of the LG V30 and V20 are all but updated along with the LG G6, leaving only the two-year-old LG G5 in the lurch. Thankfully, the company is rolling out Oreo for the G5 in Korea, so it's only a matter of time before it makes its way to other markets. Yes, it might be a tad late, considering Android Pie is already is out. Better late than never, I guess.
EMUI 9 beta based on Android Pie is here for the Huawei Mate 10, Huawei P20, Honor 10, Honor View 10, and Honor Play
Recently, Huawei unveiled EMUI 9 based on Android 9 Pie and announced that the beta program would go live today. EMUI 9 beta is available for the Huawei Mate 10/Pro, Huawei P20/Pro, Honor 10, Honor View 10, and Honor Play. The beta program opened up for limited numbers of users per country.
The update brings a more streamlined user interface with an updated design. There’s also going to be a new gesture-based navigation system, different than that of the one Google has. But, it isn't available in the beta just yet. Additonally, Huawei has implemented their take on Google’s Digital Wellbeing with parental controls built-in. There are other optimizations in the software that supposedly improve performance as well.
The beta is available for the Huawei Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, P20, P20 Pro, Honor 10, View 10 and the Honor Play. If you have one of the devices and want to give the beta a try, head over to Huawei’s Friendly User Test (FUT) website and download the beta app. Register for an account if you haven't already. Navigate to Personal –> Join Project. Find the EMUI 9 beta program and sign up.
