The Pixel 8 Pro launched last week, and for some reason, Google introduced many pro features that were exclusive to the more expensive variant. Now, of course, this can be done by companies to create differentiation between two devices, but not when they are running the same hardware. Now, it turns out that the pro features might not be entirely exclusively.
Google has locked older Pixel devices from using the latest pro controls found on the Pixel 8 Pro, but it only requires a software change
Now, Kamila Wojciechowska posted a video on Twitter showing that the pro controls that were previously exclusive to the Pixel 8 Pro are actually working on the Pixel 7 Pro. She even talks about how these controls can actually work on any Pixel device based on the Tensor chipset.

Looking at the video above and then going through all the subsequent tweets from Wojciechowska, it is evident that Google's reasoning to keep the Pixel 8 Pro's pro controls an exclusive is just their own decision and perhaps urging everyone else to upgrade to the new phone. If, however, the company has a change of heart, then you can essentially see these features working on all the Pixel phones that are running on the Tensor chipset.
Another thing to know here is that there is a possibility that Google might stick to its guns and keep the features officially available on the Pixel 8 Pro, and if that does happen, then you have nothing to worry about because there are always eager modders sitting behind their keyboards ready to port features over to older devices. Simply put, you do not have to worry that your older phones do not have this feature because sooner or later, they will be available, and you will not have to upgrade to a new device.
