Leoon S. Kennedy will indeed be the second protagonist in Resident Evil Requiem

After months of rumors and speculation and a reputable leak regarding his presence in Resident Evil Requiem, it's finally official. Leon S. Kennedy, beloved main character of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4, will star in the ninth entry in the survival horror series by CAPCOM. And although aged up and a little ragged, he still seems to be the character fans continue to love.

The first look at Leon in Resident Evil Requiem was revealed today by a new trailer shared during The Game Awards, which also provided a glimpse at a new villain, Dr. Gideon, and more. At the end of the trailer, we also got a quick look at Leon gameplay, which looks visceral and brutal.

The first look at Leon and at how combat in Resident Evil Requiem will work was long overdue, considering the game launches in a little over two months, on February 27, 2026. As such, we should expect more details on the combat system and the monstrous enemies that both Grace and Leon will face to be revealed soon, and possibly any differences between the two that would make the experience more varied.

While we still don't know how combat in Resident Evil Requiem will feel, we already know the game's atmosphere will be top-notch. To the point that I was able to fully appreciate what the game is attempting to do in this regard during Gamescom 2025, despite playing a short demo in a far-from-optimal setting.
