With Samsung gearing up for the Galaxy Unpacked event in a couple of weeks, the rumor mill seems to focus on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6. It has unveiled some salient information regarding the upcoming variants, revealing key aspects of the design for the foldable series. While the upcoming devices have made quite the buzz, it is speculated that the company is working on a new 'Slim' version of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which will launch sooner than you think.
Galaxy Z Fold 6's Slim variant could possibly roll out in October, but only in China
The news regarding Samsung allegedly releasing two variants of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 has been circulating for a while, but a recent report by the tipster Ice Universe gives away the possible launch window and details on where the device would be rolled out.
According to the post on X, Samsung is set on releasing the Galaxy Z Fold 6 'Slim' in China after the July event, where the company would release the standard Galaxy Z Fold 6. The slimmer variant is said to be rolling out as a Galaxy W25 variant, and the launch could happen later this year. The Galaxy W25 is said to be much lighter and thinner than the Fold 6, possibly taking notes from Apple, as it works to launch the iPhone 17 with a slimmer profile.

Samsung might be dropping S Pen support on the second variant, which could be due to the trimmed-down dimensions of the device that would not be capable of hosting a dedicated pencil-like accessory. After China, the company is likely to expand globally with the product in the future, potentially marking the Asian market as a testing ground for the device.
The Galaxy W25's display, compared to the standard Fold 6, could be larger and sport a different aspect ratio for the cover. Although the S Pen being dropped might let down some users, the slimmer outlook could be fresher and more premium. Previous reports expressed their assumptions of the Slim variant being the FE model, but the Fold 6 Slim is said to feature a titanium frame with a sturdy build that negates such claims.
At the time of writing, information about the specification of this second variant is scarce. However, we believe Samsung's move to go for a more visually appealing and affordable version is an attempt to combat the increasing competition and help regain its position as the market leader in the foldable category.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6, on the other hand, will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, with a battery capacity of 4400 mAh, a 7.6-inch primary display, and a 6.3-inch cover display. The Fold 6 variant would see a price hike compared to the previous series, given the generative AI features coming to the model. The likelihood of a second version with a larger display, slimmer look, and more pocket-friendly approach has users intrigued and would help the company establish its foot firmly in the foldable market.
