Samsung has been extending support for the Olympic Games for a while now. It is one of the biggest sponsors for the Summer Olympics 2024 to be held in Paris in a few days. The company even chose the same city for its Unpacked event and unveiled a plethora of major devices. Every year, the South Korean tech giant releases the Olympic edition of its Galaxy phone, and it decided to continue the custom established by announcing an exclusive Galaxy Z Flip 6 reserved for the Summer Games participants. The company has now announced the delivery of its special edition to the athletes.
Samsung announced that it has successfully delivered 17,000 Galaxy Z Flip 6 Olympic Edition units to the Summer Olympic Games participants
After the roll-out of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 at Galaxy Unpacked 2024, Samsung announced that it would continue the tradition of an Olympic Edition by launching the Galaxy Z Flip 6 exclusive variant for the Summer Olympics participants. The delivery of the devices was to begin on 18 July, and the company recently gave an update on the gifts given to the athletes.
Samsung shared the update on the Paris 2024 Olympic Edition phone, a special limited edition of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 exclusively arranged for the Olympic participants. With the help of the International Olympic Committee, Samsung was able to securely deliver 17,000 Galaxy Z Flip 6 exclusive versions to all the athletes who are part of the big sports event.
The Olympic Edition is said to be different from the standard Z Flip 6 due to some services and apps exclusively available for the athletes to help them make the most out of their time in Paris by using the phone's built-in Olympic app. With the help of a card that is available in Samsung's wallet app, the participants can use public transport and have a seamless overall experience.
Galaxy AI is to play a huge role in making the device more useful for athletes, especially with features like Live Translation and Interpreter. It also has a different outlook and design from the original Flip 6 model. Additionally, the phone would come with 100GB 5G data on the eSim.
Samsung has been gifting participants free smartphones since the 2015 Winter Olympics and has continued the legacy. The company has been an Olympic sponsor since 1988, highlighting the long-standing connection between the sports event and the tech giant. Alongside the successful delivery of the exclusive editions, the standard Galaxy Z Flip 6 model will start being delivered today to those who have ordered the device.
