Samsung is not expected to fundamentally alter the prevailing mold when it launches the Galaxy Z Flip 8 later this summer. Even so, the South Korean tech behemoth is looking at a few iterative improvements that are likely to improve the device's ergonomics and aesthetics.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 will weigh 8 grams less than its Flip 7 counterpart, and come equipped with a new hinge and a crease-free display
South Korea-based Yeux1122 has now published a new blog post detailing that the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will be slimmer than its Flip 7 counterpart by around 0.5mm, courtesy of a new hinge mechanism.
This aligns with the recent CAD renders published by OnLeaks and Android Headlines, showing a device that bears the dimensions of 166.8mm x 75.4mm x 6.6mm when unfolded and 85.4mm x 75.4mm x 13.2mm while folded, indicating that the Flip 8 is just around half a millimeter thinner in its folded state than the Flip 7.
Elsewhere, Yeux1122 details that the upcoming foldable will weigh around 8 grams less than the Flip 7, largely due to a new hinge mechanism.
Critically, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is now tipped to come with a crease-free foldable display. Of course, given the tidbit about an improved hinge, it is quite likely that this innovation will play a large role in eliminating the dreaded crease that has, heretofore, plagued all of Samsung's foldables.
Finally, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to retain the Flip 7's camera module, battery capacity, and charging speeds.
We already know from previous tidbits that the foldable will sport a 4.1-inch cover display and a 6.9-inch inner one in what appears to be an exact replication of the Flip 7, replete with dual rear cameras and an LED flash on the cover panel.
Do note that Samsung is apparently preparing to produce 3.5 million units of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and between 2.5 million and 3 million units of the Galaxy Z Flip 8 ahead of their planned launch in H2 2026. Critically, this is the first time that the Z Fold units will exceed their Flip counterparts in the South Korean tech giant's yearly production cadence.
Until last year, the Z Flip devices made up around 60 to 70 percent of the sales volume of Samsung's foldables in a given year. This sales mix, however, changed in 2025 with the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which weighed less than the Galaxy S25 Ultra, bore a thickness of just 8.9mm, and managed to outsell its Flip 7 counterpart.
