With Samsung's Galaxy S26 series just around 3 months away from an official launch, rumors around the new lineup are predictably heating up, with the latest tidbit focusing on the S26's thickness
Samsung Galaxy S26 to be around 4 percent slimmer than its predecessor
The well-known tipster Ice Universe is out with another tidbit today, focusing on the thickness of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 device.
Specifically, Ice Universe believes the Galaxy S26 device would be 6.9mm thick vs. 7.2mm for the S25. This means that the new base variant of the Galaxy S26 series would be around 4 percent slimmer than its predecessor.
Of course, a slimmer form factor would also likely affect the battery capacity of the Galaxy S26. Keep in mind that the base S25 had a 4,000mAh battery capacity. Moreover, the sketch also shows a vertical camera island. Do note that the previous three generations sported no camera island.
As per an X post by the prolific tipster Jukan, Samsung is gearing up for its next 'Galaxy Unpacked' event on February 25, 2026. The theme of the event, unsurprisingly, centers on AI, and would see the launch of the base S26, the S26 Plus, and the S26 Ultra.
This is the first time in around three years that Samsung is again heading to San Francisco for its 'Galaxy Unpacked' event, with the last one featuring the launch of the Galaxy S23 series back in 2023.
Meanwhile, as per another tidbit, the S26 Ultra would have noticeably rounded corners, giving the apex model in the S26 lineup a softer overall profile. In doing so, Samsung appears to be deliberately moving away from the boxy shape of its now-defunct Note series.
Also, as per a new report from the South Korean publication MK, Samsung is targeting sales of 35 million units for the upcoming Galaxy S26 lineup, with 24 million units targeted for the first half of 2026 vs. the Galaxy S25 lineup's 22 million units that the South Korean behemoth managed to sell in H1 2025.
