Smartwatches have recently gained popularity, especially when the purpose has gone beyond the phone-like features. Nowadays, wearables are more centered around health and wellness. When it comes to Samsung's smartwatches, they have managed to stay competitive and are considered one of the most advanced available in the market due to their health features that have gathered a broad fan base. While it offered some key health-centric capabilities, one of the limitations was the limited availability of the popular offerings, the Sleep Apnea feature. The good news is that the key capability is finally going to be extended to more countries.
Samsung is now bringing its Sleep Apnea feature to more countries, extending the capability to about 70 markets
As people become more health-conscious, the demand for smartwatches that offer health-centric services is growing. Samsung is one of the brands that stands out the most for its useful health-related capabilities. Among the many key offerings, its Sleep Apnea feature remains the most popular. It is mostly used to monitor breathing disruptions over a period of two nights to detect any signs of sleep apnea in adults 22 and older.
Samsung emphasizes that the Sleep Apnea feature can help with the diagnosis and is more for those who want to look for any signs of this condition than those who have already been diagnosed. It goes on to highlight for its Galaxy Watch users that this feature is a quick way of checking when a healthcare professional is unavailable and is in no way a replacement for professional treatment or follow-up. The key feature is available on the Galaxy Watch series through Samsung's Health Monitor app.
Initially, the Sleep Apnea feature was only made available in 34 countries. Given the popularity of the capability, it did not seem enough, and users have long been anticipating wider availability. Those who have been waiting for the health feature to be accessible in their country would be relieved to know that the South Korean tech giant has finally announced that its Sleep Apnea feature is according to the European Conformity organization. As a result, it would now be expanded to 24 European markets. The Sleep Apnea detection ability is also approved by Australia's Therapeutic Goods Administration and Singapore's Health Science Authority, and would be extended to these countries.
Those who own the Galaxy Watch 4 or later models that support Wear OS 5.0 or newer models can enjoy the Sleep Apnea feature by pairing it with their Galaxy phone with either Android 12.0 or a more recent version. Given the number of markets the capability is now available in, the total number of markets it has been extended to is 70 countries. It is undoubtedly an improvement by the company and an update that users have long requested.
