The price isn't final, and we may expect somewhat closer to $500. Looks like retailers are about to receive their first inventory of the Ryzen 7 9850X3D.

AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D Listed on US and Swiss Retailers for Over $500; The New Processor Is Expected to be Launched at CES 2026

Apart from seeing the upcoming Zen 5 X3D chips, we are now seeing them being listed on retailers. The upcoming Zen 5 Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs are expected to launch at CES 2026, which is hardly three weeks from now. These are the new Ryzen 7 9850X3D and the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 processors, which we have covered extensively since the time they surfaced on the internet.

The Ryzen 7 9850X3D will be a kinda refreshed Ryzen 7 9800X3D chip that will boast the same 8-core/16-thread configuration and was recently listed on a US retailer called SHI. The processor has been listed for $553, which is much higher than the MSRP of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D that launched at $479. However, this isn't the final price and is a placeholder, which should change when the processor launches. The processor is also seen on a Swiss retailer listed at CHF 473.55, which is around US$549. So, it's definitely not final yet.

We expect the processor to be launched at $500 or probably for the MSRP of the 9800X3D. This remains speculation, but what is confirmed is that the processor will be faster since it boasts 400 MHz higher boost clock. The base clock remains the same at 4.7 GHz, but the boost clock is now increased from 5.2 GHz to 5.6 GHz.

As far as the cache is concerned, the processor will have no change, and will feature the same 96 MB of L3 cache + 8 MB L2 cache. The listing shows 108 MB total cache, which appears to be a typo. The TDP will also remain the same at 120W, and so will the iGPU, which will boast two GPU cores based on RDNA 2 architecture.

We are eager to see how much performance uplift this brings over the 9800X3D, but you shouldn't expect any significant change, since most specs are identical to the 9800X3D.
