RAGE 2 Pre-Order Bonus Revealed; Game To Be Powered by Avalanche’s Own ‘Apex’ Engine

We learned a great deal of new information on RAGE 2, and even saw the game in action for the first time, though published Bethesda Softworks promised a lot more to come during their own E3 2018 Showcase event (set on Sunday, June 10th at 6:30 pm Pacific Time).

However, retailer Amazon also separately confirmed that there will be a pre-order bonus: an exclusive mission, a vehicle, a pistol and an armor piece.

RAGE 2 is being co-developed by Avalanche Studios and id Software, to get the most of each studio's expertise. It was only natural, then, to wonder whether the game would use the id Tech 6 engine or Avalanche's own Apex engine.

Avalanche Founder and Chief Creative Officer (CCO) Christofer Sundberg clarified that once and for all via Twitter - RAGE 2 is indeed powered by the Apex engine, the same one used in all their titles from Mad Max to Just Cause and theHunter.

This does raise another question, though: will the game retain the 60FPS target frame rate of the first installment? That would be a first for Avalanche's open world games.
