PS Plus Doom Eternal

Sony has announced the latest lineup of games coming to their PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers in April. This month, it’s all about the Boomer shooters, as Sony is serving up Doom Eternal, four more classic Dooms, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, and Wolfenstein: The Old Blood. It seems likely this infusion of Microsoft-owned titles is part of their effort to convince regulators to okay their purchase of Activision Blizzard, but hey, PS Plus subscribers are the beneficiaries. Other games joining the PS Plus library include Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Riders Republic, and more.

Here are the PS Plus Extra headliners for April, with excerpts from Wccftech’s reviews…

Doom Eternal (PS4, PS5)

“Doom Eternal is a brilliant game, one that is a worthy successor to the previous release. While the game does stumble here and there, trying to be something that it really shouldn't be, the outstanding gameplay more than makes up for any issues. Going by the campaign alone, Doom Eternal is well worth your time and money. I'm not sold on the multiplayer, as it feels just a bit too threadbare.”

Riders Republic (PS4, PS5)

“Riders Republic’s posturing is more than a little phony and the game may be a bit mechanically simple for some, but its playground is an impressive one. With travel still difficult, Ubisoft’s sometimes-breathtaking recreation of America’s greatest national parks feels like something to be grateful for, and this game’s wide range of activities and challenges means almost everyone will be able to find some way to amuse themselves amongst its peaks and valleys. Riders Republic is a surprising breath of virtual fresh air.”

Kena: Bridge of Spirits (PS4, PS5)

“Kena: Bridge of Spirits Anniversary Update is a great way to show some more love to one of the most surprising games of 2021. While the additions aren't that big, they make the experience feel a little more complete, providing players with new challenges and new ways to enjoy this magical experience.”
