Well, it's happened again. PlayStation has announced a price increase for its PS Plus subscription service, but this time it's only impacting new customers, with current subscribers mostly unaffected, unless you live in Turkey or India. In those countries, even current subscribers will see their subscription payments go up.
Announced in a short post on the official PlayStation X (formerly Twitter) account, PlayStation confirmed that beginning in just two days on May 20, 2026, new customers will see PS Plus subscriptions start at $10.99 USD/month instead of the previous $9.99/month. Three-month subscriptions will go up to $27.99 USD/three months from the previous $24.99 USD/three months.
As for why the price is going up, PlayStation simply cites, "ongoing market conditions," and while the increase is only for new customers for now, if you change your subscription or if it lapses, you'll also see your subscription payment go up to this new price.
This is the latest price increase for PlayStation products after the PS5, PS Portal, and PS5 Pro all saw a significant price increase this past April go into effect across the globe. It wouldn't be a surprise to see this PS Plus price hike impact all customers, not just new ones, sooner than later.
PlayStation has not clarified exactly which regions will be impacted by the price hike, but it's likely that the US, UK, and EU will all be impacted since the currencies listed are USD, British Pounds, and Euros. It also hasn't yet clarified if this increase only impacts the base PS Plus Essential tier, or if the starting monthly price for PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium have also gone up. Hopefully, we'll have more information about the increase in two days when it goes into effect.
