OnePlus 5 Benchmark Reveals That Highest Configured Model Will Have a Mammoth 8GB of RAM
It was alright to assume that the OnePlus 5 would ship with more RAM than its predecessor since it would have become a smart move for the company to entice consumers to make a purchase and gain bragging rights of a smartphone that touts more RAM that your laptop. However, according to a new benchmarking leak, it looks like the OnePlus 5 could actually become one of the few Android devices to ship with an unfathomable amount of memory.
New Benchmarking Scores Shows That OnePlus 5 Obtained 6,500+ Points in Multi-Core Test Results as Well as Featuring 8GB of RAM
Geekbench occasionally surprises us with not the benchmarking scores, but with the hardware that’s expected to be present in future mobile devices. This is one of those occasions, and if you divert your attention from the single and multi-core test results, you will be able to notice that this particular variant features 8GB of RAM, which is very difficult to believe.
However, considering that the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T came with 6GB RAM, it would not be a surprise if the OnePlus 5 touted more RAM that your average notebook. Still, it begs the question as to whether or not this would be deleterious for the overall battery life of the phone. With the majority of flagships using LPDDR4X RAM, it would contribute a small amount to increasing overall screen-on time, but this will increase its total price since LPDDR4X has energy efficient properties, but can dramatically raise the retail price for the consumer.
While you’re getting excited over this revelation, keep in mind that there are very rare instances that the specifications you see listed on Geekbench benchmarks end up present in the smartphone. That being said, take this information with a pinch of salt, and we’ll have more updates to share with you guys.
