Microsoft Planning a Device That Will be Rocking a Snapdragon 845 – Surface Phone or Something Else?
Microsoft and other companies have been working with Qualcomm to bring its Snapdragon 835 to portable notebooks that will be running Windows 10 natively. At the same time, the chipset manufacturer is aiming to officially announce its Snapdragon 845, which will be found in the likes of the Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+, and others.
However, a new job opening suggests that Microsoft is eager to hire experts that will be able to fit the Snapdragon 845 in a particular device. What device could Microsoft be referring to; the Surface Phone maybe?
Microsoft Requires Engineer That Understands ‘Complex Hardware’ - Incorporating a Snapdragon 845 in a Surface Phone Should Not Be Difficult or Is It?
Microsoft recently published a position at a job website requiring a ‘Hardware Test Engineer’ or ‘Manufacturing Engineer’, according to the data gathered by WinFuture. The individual’s responsibilities would be to check out and test the use of wireless technologies based on the Wi-Fi 802.11ax standard.
Apart from the Snapdragon 835, which features the internal model number MSM8998, the job advertisement also detailed the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 and is known as SDM845 internally. Understanding complex hardware like the Snapdragon 845 and placing it in machines could be Microsoft’s next move but the tech giant did not exactly specify what product the engineer would be working on.
Since Microsoft and Qualcomm have been making a great deal of effort to bring the Snapdragon 835 to notebooks that will offer killer battery life, it is possible that Snapdragon 845 refreshes will be seen later in the year but then, which product could we be looking forward to?
To be honest, this might not just be about the Surface Phone, but as a way for Microsoft to start making its own custom hardware so that it can make software work with it in the same manner as Apple controls its iOS and Mac ecosystem.
Do you think this hiring could be anything to do with the future release of a Surface Phone?
