Microsoft Removes 8 Studio Logos From Microsoft Studios
A total of 8 studio logos have just been removed from Microsoft’s game production wing, Microsoft Studios.
Several studio logos have been removed from the Microsoft Studios’ website, including Project Spark, BigPark, and Microsoft’s Hololens studios (Good Science, Function, LXP, and SOTA). As expected the Lionhead, and Press Play studio logos have also been removed.
The logos probably have been removed yesterday as a cached version of the website still contains the logos. Down below, you’ll find the an overview of the studios currently listed on the Microsoft Studios website, and an overview of the studios listed on March 4, 2016.
While the removal of the Hololens related studios doesn’t mean that these studios are being shut down, it might imply that Microsoft is rebranding some of their studios.
Yesterday we reported that both Lionhead Studios and Press Play were being closed down. Additionally, Lionhead’s Fable Legends was officially cancelled after being in development for nearly 4 years.
After much consideration we have decided to cease development on Fable Legends, and are in discussions with employees about the proposed closure of Lionhead Studios in the UK. Additionally, we will close Press Play Studios in Denmark, and sunset development on Project Knoxville.
These have been tough decisions and we have not made them lightly, nor are they a reflection on these development teams – we are incredibly fortunate to have the talent, creativity and commitment of the people at these studios. The Lionhead Studios team has delighted millions of fans with the Fable series over the past decade. Press Play imbued the industry with a unique creative spirit behind games like Max: The Curse of Brotherhood and Kalimba, which both captured passionate fans. These changes are taking effect as Microsoft Studios continues to focus its investment and development on the games and franchises that fans find most exciting and want to play.
As always, we will keep you updated when we learn more on this matter.
