The latest Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater showed the game running at native 4K resolution, as well as a very faithful recreation of some the original release's cutscenes.

A new analysis shared today by Digital Foundry confirms how the trailer showed almost two weeks back during this year's Xbox Games Showcase featured the remake running at native 4K resolution, with dynamic resolution scaling kicking in rarely. Unfortunately, it hasn't been specified from which version of the game the footage was captured, so it's too early to say if the console versions will indeed run at native 4K resolution, at least in the Quality or Graphics mode the game is likely to feature.

The video also features some very interesting comparisons between some of the original version's cutscenes and their Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater recreations, highlighting how the remake will essentially retain the same scene composition of the original while enhancing it using the Unreal Engine 5. In Snake's HALO jump cutscene that opens the game, for example, the engine's more accurate lighting allows more detailed and diffuse shadows across the characters while ambient occlusion shades in under collars and beneath hair. High-quality assets, improved reflections, more realistic cloud rendering, and better lens flare also play a big part in making the cutscene look amazing. The Unreal Engine 5 also allowed the developer to massively improve character rendering, as all characters sport new facial details, which make them look great even with the animations and motion capture used in the original.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater launches on a yet-to-be-confirmed release date on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
