Medal of Honor Warighter Could Have Two Discs on Xbox 360

Medal of Honor Warfighter is an upcoming sequel to the 2010 game, it seems that there is a possibility of the game following the footsteps of Battlefield 3 on the Xbox 360 by coming on 2 discs which will contain an (optional) HD Texture pack, while the graphics will be given a significant face lift this will of course consume your storage space.

Upon the release of Battlefield 3 the game launched with two discs on the Xbox 360 with the second disk giving players the option of installing HD textures which as you can guess improved the game visually compared to without it. Seeing as how Medal of Honor Warfighter see's the return of the new Frostbite engine it was only a question of whether the two disc option would be back, and it seems that it might just make a comeback if the current report is true.

It seems that Medal of Honor Warfighter might see the return of two disc optional texture install, considering the game is going to be running the same engine as Battlefield 3 it might be plausible that the game might just do so for the Xbox 360 version.

According to Senior Designer Ben Jones: (The following has been taken from the source)

"I think that might be a reality for us as well," Jones replied when asked whether the Xbox 360 version of Warfighter would ship on two discs.

The Xbox 360 version of Medal of Honor: Warfighter will span two discs, Danger Close has confirmed to

Speaking to us at an event held yesterday for the upcoming shooter, senior designer Ben Jones suggested that the two discs would be used to separate the game's single-player and the multiplayer, similar to last year's Frostbite 2 shooter Battlefield 3.

"I think that might be a reality for us as well," Jones replied when asked whether the Xbox 360 version of Warfighter would ship on two discs.

"It's DVD format versus Blu-ray and you're going to see that split at certain times, especially with the amount of content that we're delivering."

"I believe we are [including an optional HD texture installation], but I don't know that we can confirm that," Jones continued. An EA publicist added that the firm couldn't discuss the possibility of an HD texture install "because we haven't had it confirmed to us".

In addition to spanning two discs, Jones also revealed that Danger Close had "spent a lot of time innovating and making great improvements to Frostbite 2," particularly when it comes to the console versions.

"But for us in terms of quality bar, I think we're all very happy with what we've delivered," he continued.

"Danger Close as a whole has spent a lot of time innovating and making great improvements to Frostbite 2, so we're pretty happy with that. Our PS3 version of the game is solid, I think it looks great. We went in specifically... We've been testing on both of those platforms for at least a year on a daily basis, so we spent a lot of time tuning and testing.

"We really focused on the lighting. I think lighting is one of the big things that shifts when you go to the consoles, so we made sure that our lighting was tailored to console first and still looked incredibly beautiful on PC. We're going to deliver a high level of quality there regardless of platform."

Ben Jones raises the argument of Blu ray vs Dual Layer DVD and makes a valid argument that size indeed matters in such places, but we all know that it is probable for the two disc version to happen. Albeit the payoff is worth it and you get better graphics at the cost of some storage space because we all know how dreadful Battlefield 3 looked like without the HD Texture pack.

Ben has painted us a clear picture that the amount of content they are going to deliver in Medal of Honor Warfighter might not be enough to cover a single dual layer disc so it is more or less very likely that they will have to go through with the plan of 2 discs after all, but anything can happen and maybe (a slim possibility) they might be able to squeeze all that beauty into one dual layer disc? let's wait and see.

While Medal of Honor will definitely be a heck of a game we are of course keeping all eyes on the PC version which will definitely be the best looking and possibly be superior to multiplayer like Battlefield 3 was compared from PC to consoles.
