The news originated in Korea and was shared by the account "yeux1122" on the Naver blog, suggesting that the iPhone 16 Pro models will feature a new polished titanium finish, which will be quite different from the iPhone 15 Pro. If we compare the iPhone 15 Pro models, the titanium frame features a brushed finish and hides fingerprints quite well compared to the stainless steel finish. If Apple opts for a polished finish for the titanium frame, we can expect the fingerprints and smudges to return, especially on darker color options.
With the new polished titanium finish for the iPhone 16 Pro, we can expect the devices to be glossy outside, resembling the iPhone 14 Pro's design and aesthetics. However, the devices would offer more durability compared to the stainless steel finish due to the titanium frame underneath the polished finish. Another advantage of having a titanium frame is that it will endure more scratches than stainless steel. Henceforth, a polished finish would give more options to the end user, but it remains to be seen if the company will still offer the brushed finish on the forthcoming flagships.
Altogether, Apple could achieve a shiny and reflective feel for the iPhone 16 Pro models without compromising on the weight and durability of the device. Apple should give users more choices when it comes to choosing the finish on the iPhone 16 Pro. For instance, users should be able to select the same color in two finishes as it depends on personal preferences what type of finish a user wants.
In terms of looks, the iPhone 16 is slated to feature a vertical camera layout, while the iPhone 16 Pro could retain the same design but could feature a slightly bigger camera plateau.
