Apple has released beta 5 of its upcoming iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 operating systems to developers, which they can test out and report bugs back to the company for a stable final release. If you are a developer, you can download it right now on your iPhone or iPad and be sure that it will be more stable than the last beta.
Apple released iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 beta 5 to developers
iOS 18 beta 5 arrives two weeks after the fourth beta was seeded to developers, and if you are registered with Apple's beta program, you can download the build by heading over to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates. The process is fairly simple but requires you to link your Apple ID with your Developer Account. The process is the same for the iPhone and iPad, so you do not have to worry about that.
iOS 18 will bring a plethora of new additions to the table which Apple announced on stage at the WWDC event in June. While most of the features have already been added to the mix, the last few beta versions will focus on stability. However, the latest beta does bring a handful of new features and changes, which you can check out.
The company has also released iOS 18.1 beta in the previous week, which will bring Apple Intelligence to the platform. Currently, Apple Intelligence will be available for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, but it will also be ported to the new iPhone 16 models later this year. iOS 18.1 build number suggests that Apple will bring its AI features to the iPhone a bit later than expected. What this means is that the initial iOS 18 rollout will not have any Apple Intelligence features, and we believe that iOS 18.1 will be released in October.
Other than Apple Intelligence, iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 boasts numerous visual changes, like the revamped Control Center and Home Screen upgrades. Users will have the option to place app icons anywhere on the Home Screen with the ability to create empty spaces on the Home Screen. There are new apps as well such as Passwords, and updates for existing apps that you can check out.
