Intel's next-generation Lunar Lake-V "Core Ultra 200V" CPUs are going to feature 8 CPU cores, 8 GPU cores & 32 GB of on-package LPDDR5X memory.
Intel Lunar Lake-MX CPUs Renamed To Lunar Lake-V: Core Ultra 200V With Up To 8 CPU & 8 GPU Cores
The Intel Lunar Lake CPUs are no mystery as these are the next hot topic to discuss after Meteor Lake and even Arrow Lake considering they not only pack a new CPU architecture but also brand new GPU cores in the form of Xe2-LPG "Arc Battlemage", on-package LPDDR5X memory & some interesting configurations.
According to well-known insider, Golden Pig Upgrade (via Bilibili), it is reported that Intel's Lunar Lake CPUs will drop the "MX" branding and utilize "V" branding. That's why we have seen recent leaks such as the Core Ultra 5 234V which kind of confirms this bit. Furthermore, we also get an insight into the configurations of the Lunar Lake-V chips.
It looks like all Intel Lunar Lake-V CPUs will be based upon a single die which will feature 4 P-cores based on the Lion Cove core architecture and 4 LP-E cores based on the Skymont core architecture. There aren't going to be any standard E-Cores for Lunar Lake CPUs which gives us a slight hint of how Intel is achieving bigger generational "Performance Per Watt" gains with these thin and light-focused series of chips.
The GPU part of Intel's Lunar Lake-V chips will feature the latest Xe2-LPG iGPUs based on the Arc Battlemage graphics architecture. There will be up to 8 Xe cores and so far, we have seen some huge performance bumps over the Xe-LPG "Arc Alchemist" iGPUs.

The biggest change for Intel's Lunar Lake-V "Core Ultra 200V" CPUs will be the addition of on-package LPDDR5X memory. Recent shipping manifestos pointed out up to 32 GB DRAM which is certainly going to be the case. The LPDDR5X memory is said to be rated at speeds of up to 8533 MT/s as a MoP (Memory-on-Package) packaging design. For TDPs, Lunar Lake-V CPUs will operate between 17-30W, and the small increase in power envelope versus Meteor Lake-U (15-28W) is said to be due to the on-package memory.
Recently, it was alleged that Intel's Lunar Lake-V "Core Ultra 200V" CPUs at 17W will offer a 50% uplift versus Meteor Lake "Core Ultra 100" CPUs at 15W in multi-threaded workloads. Following are some of the features of Lunar Lake CPUs:
- Designed For Thin & Light Notebooks
- Lion Cove P-Cores & Skymont LPE-Cores
- Battlemage "Xe2-LPG" GPU Architecture
- Up To 8 Xe2 GPU Cores
- 4+4 Core Configurations (MX-Series)
- Up To 64 Execution Units
- On-Package 32 GB LPDDR5x Memory
- Up To 3x Faster NPU Performance Versus Meteor Lake
- 17-30W TDP
- Late 2024 Launch, 2025 Volume
Intel's Lunar Lake CPUs will be rolling out later this year in limited quantities with mass availability in early 2025. Intel will also talk about its future client CPU families at Computex 2024 so we might hear more about these chips in June.
