[UPDATE - March 23, 6:46 AM] With patch 1.00.03, Pearl Abyss fixed the issues causing terrible image quality and visibility with rain, which also affected AMD FSR 4.

[Original Guide] If you are playing Crimson Desert on PC with a Radeon RX 9000 series GPU using AMD FSR 4 upscaling, you may have noticed significant issues with the game's image quality. In many scenarios, visuals are notably worse than native resolution or other upscaling solutions, occasionally introducing visibility issues that make the game almost unplayable.

Image Quality Issues

As of March 20, 2026, there is no fix for the core FSR 4 image quality issues. Technical analysis suggests this is due to a broken implementation of camera subpixel jitter. This flaw is most evident in still images, where the AI reconstruction fails to align frames correctly, leading to a shimmering or low-detail look that hides the game's actual assets.

The "Rain Distortion" & Visibility Bug

The most severe current issue AMD FSR 4 users are facing is the extreme blurriness and image distortion during rainy weather, and in several reported cases, the complete erasure of rain from the screen. This not only breaks immersion but also makes navigating the world extremely frustrating and impossible in some extreme cases

Until a patch is released by Pearl Abyss (the day-one patch doesn't address the issue), use these workarounds to maintain the game's image quality and clarity during rainy weather.

  • Go to Settings > Graphics > Upscaling and switch from FSR 4 to FSR 3.1. While you may lose a few frames of performance, FSR 3.1 better handles rain particles in the game's current build.
  • Because rainy weather is extremely performance-intensive, your system may struggle at native resolution. If you need the extra FPS, FSR 3.1 is a better compromise than Native
  • If you prefer the high FPS of FSR 4 during clear weather and don't want to keep menu-swapping, simply find a bed or a bonfire. By changing the time of day, there is a high chance the rain will have stopped by the time Kliff wakes up, solving the issue.
  • Installing the Adrenalin 26.3.1 WHQL driver with Crimson Desert support may resolve the issues in some instances.
