Every day thousands of Windows get installed on PCs. What differentiates your OS from your friend’s is the product key. This product key is essentially a receipt or proof that shows that you have an activated version of Windows installed on your computer. This product key is essential, and I will get to that later. The question right now is, where to find your Windows 10 product key? In this tutorial, I will address this.

Find Windows 10 Product Key

A product key is unique for every system. It is in this format: XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX. You should have this key saved somewhere safe because you may need it unexpectedly. You may need it when you reinstall Windows. This can happen if something went wrong with an update and your system crashed, or maybe you need to reinstall it because you wanted to try out a different OS, but now you want your original Windows back.

If you bought your computer and have a preinstalled Windows, you can use any above methods or look at the packaging. The Windows 10 product key should be printed somewhere on the box as well. Not all manufacturers print this on the box, so use this method if, for some reason, you can’t use either of the above options.
