How to Always Launch Chrome in Incognito Mode on Your Windows 10 Computer
If you have accidentally opened up the normal Chrome mode and not the Incognito mode and continued using it without realizing your mistake, then you aren’t alone, my friend. I have made the same error countless times before. To prevent this mistake, you can make sure that you always get the incognito mode whenever you launch Chrome. In this tutorial, I will show you how to always launch Chrome in incognito mode on your Windows 10 computer.
Always Launch Chrome in Incognito Mode
You can create a shortcut in just a couple of minutes whether you use a Windows computer or a macOS. I will be showing you how to do it in Windows. The process is very straightforward. You have to add a command line to the default file target. You can convert your normal desktop Chrome shortcut to incognito, or you can have one incognito and one normal shortcut if you choose.
Follow these steps if you don’t have a desktop shortcut for chrome. If you already have one, feel free to skip this heading and move to the next section.
- Open the Start menu and type Google Chrome.
- Right-click on the Google Chrome option and select Open file location
- Right-click on Google Chrome and hover the cursor on Send to.
- Select Desktop.
How to Always Launch Chrome in Incognito
Step-1: Right-click on the desktop shortcut of Google Chrome.
Step-2: Select Properties.
Step-3: Select the Shortcut tab.
Step-4: In the Target type box, there is a file path present. DO NOT delete it. At the end of the file path, add the following:
Step-5: Select Apply and then click OK.
Step-6: Double-click on the shortcut and check if it launches in Incognito Mode. If it does, rename it to prevent any confusion in the future.
If you want to stop launching Chrome in incognito, go to Properties like before and remove the
--incognito from the Target type box command and click Apply.
