Microsoft Drops Halo: Campaign Evolved on July 28 To Sidestep GTA 6 November Blast Radius on PS5, and Xbox

It has been a while since we have seen Halo Campaign Evolved in action, and today's Xbox Games Showcase not only provided a new look at Operation: METEORITE, but also confirmed the game's late July release date, making it one of the very few high-profile games launching this year that will soundly avoid Grand Theft Auto 6's November release.

The Unreal Engine 5 remake of the campaign of the first entry in the series will launch precisely on July 28 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, but those who purchase the Premium Edition or Collector's Edition will be able to play the game starting from July 23. Pre-orders for the game are also open on Xbox, Steam, and PlayStation, while the Collector's Edition is available for pre-order on HaloWaypoint.

As already mentioned, the new Halo Campaign Evolved trailer provides a first look at Operation: METEORITE, a new short story arc comprising three missions taking place a year before the events of the first game.

"Featuring the Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson, this new adventure sends players behind enemy lines in a clandestine UNSC operation aboard a Covenant research vessel. What starts as a simple smash and grab turns more complicated as they encounter more than they bargained for," a post on the official Xbox website reads.

While Halo: Campaign Evolved faithfully remakes the original Halo: Combat Evolved campaign, Operation: METEORITE gives players a chance to expand their experience with new locations, new enemy variants, more weapons from across the Halo series, and new ways to play within the Halo sandbox, all while getting to spend more time with beloved characters and witness a new event that adds to the legacy of their heroic history.

Looking at new footage for Halo Campaign Evolved, it definitely looks like the fears of former Bungie veteran Niles Sankye were thankfully unfounded, as the enhanced visuals don't seem to be getting too much in the way of tactical readability. However, we will have to wait until late July to see if this will indeed be the case for the entire game.
