New Final Fantasy XVI gameplay footage was shared today, focusing on Clive's loyal wolf companion Torgal and his unique combat abilities that will allow the main character to unleash even more powerful attacks.

The new footage, which can be watched below, is the first part of the official introduction for Torgal. In battle, Clive will be able to give orders to Torgal so as to unleash powerful combination attacks that open up some interesting combat options.

The inclusion of these combat options which involve both Clive and Torgal are more than welcome, considering how fighting enemies for over 80 hours in Final Fantasy XVI could get boring. We obviously haven't seen the full array of options that will be available in the next entry in the series once it launches later this year, but things are looking more and more promising with each new reveal.

Final Fantasy XVI will be the first entry in the series to feature a full action combat system, and many feel this isn't exactly proper for a main entry in the franchise. This sentiment is clearly not shared by series creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, who recently stated that producer Naoki Yoshida greatly understands the spirit of the series and has a huge respect for older games, so he's certain the next entry in the series will fully deliver on every front.

Final Fantasy XVI releases on PlayStation 5 on June 22nd worldwide. The game will be a PS5 console exclusive for six months, and a PC version will be released eventually, just not exactly when the exclusivity period is over, as optimizing a PC version properly would be impossible in just six months.
