New Fallout 4 Performance Analysis Shows Xbox One Outperforms PS4
A new Fallout 4 performance analysis from NX Gamer, shows that the Xbox One version does in fact perform better than its PS4 counterpart, thereby contradicting Digital Foundry’s recent analysis.
According to the analysis from NX Gamer, the PS4 version of Fallout 4, has 141 dropping frames during the 1st contact performance test. The Xbox One version ‘only’ dropped 41 frames. On top of that, it would seem that PS4 is dropping frames each time a weapon is fired.
This analysis from NX Gamer contradicts the recent findings from Eurogamer’s Digital Foundry. According Digital Foundry, Fallout 4 has a better overall experience on the PS4.
On top of this, Xbox One is unique in its suffering of a stuttering issue, halting the game experience for up to a second during play. It’s a glaring hitch downward, and matching runs to the gates of Diamond City shows Xbox One dropping to a record 0fps (zero) while PS4 turns the same corner at 28fps. Each has their blips, but having tested two separate Xbox One and PS4 consoles, the results are always the same across the world at large; we get sizeable stutters on Microsoft’s console that aren’t present on PS4.
Each analysis seems to have some valid points, but if this analysis is correct, it does show that these kind of performance tests aren’t all that.
Recently, Bethesda’s Pete Hines reacted to Fallout 4 performance reports, and stated that the game runs well. According Hines, he didn’t encounter framerate drops on PS4, and adds that he merely shared his own experience with the game, when he tweeted that Fallout 4 has a solid framerate of 30 frames per second.
