Following the first few patches, which focused mainly on bug fixes, Pearl Abyss has now outlined a brief roadmap of new content and feature additions coming to Crimson Desert between this month and June. To begin with, the South Korean developer will be adding difficulty settings to the game. Players will be able to choose between the three traditional presets of Easy, Normal, and Hard, therefore customizing their experience to be more or less challenging.
Crimson Desert players will also be able to challenge bosses again and again after defeating them, thanks to the "boss rematch" feature. The goal, said the studio, is to allow players to test how much they've improved their character and their own skills since they first engaged with that boss. Of course, it can also be useful to test new combat strategies. In a similar fashion, the reblockading feature makes it so enemies have a chance to seize player-liberated locations once more, requiring them to return and reclaim them for the Greymanes. Pearl Abyss also teased they're working on new "combat-focused" content, though they stopped short of clarifying what it would be.
Based on community feedback, the developers will add skills equivalent to Force Palm and Axiom Force to the other two playable characters, Damiane and Oongka. A new option to hide weapons worn on the main character's back will be added, ensuring that certain equipment doesn't break the illusion of combat.
Several quality-of-life features are also in development for Crimson Desert, including dedicated storage for food, wardrobe, gatherables, and collection (the latter will keep quest items and recipes). More mounts and pets are being prepared, and dedicated armor for other mounts will be available, too.
One of the initial criticisms levied against the game was that its controls were confusing. Now, Pearl Abyss plans to add customization options for certain controller inputs. Moreover, they will expand the range of configurable keys for keyboard and mouse users. User interface improvements to the map, inventory, and housing are being worked on, too.
Last but not least, long-distance visuals will be slightly improved, as shown in the comparison images below.
For other visual improvements, you can check out the Complete RT shader and the mod that adds grass shadows and reduces LOD pop-in. The game is also finally playable on Intel ARC graphics cards.
