Apple seems to be having a hard time launching its new OLED iPad Pro, as the company has pushed dates back by another month. Apple failed to announce a new iPad last year, and it appears the company will take its time this year as well before unveiling the new iPad models. Apple was expected to announce its big iPad Pro refresh by the end of this month or in April, but the launch time frame has taken a new turn, suggesting that the company will unveil the iPad Pro with an OLED display in May.
OLED iPad Pro to launch in May alongside iPad Air, a month before WWDC 2024
Apple recently announced that it will be hosting its WWDC 2024 event on June 10, where it will see fit to announce new software updates for the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Vision Pro, and additional products. With the new launch time frame, Apple will unveil the new OLED iPad Pro models only a month before hosting the WWDC 2024 event. The news was shared by prominent analyst Mark Gurman, who previously coined that Apple will unveil the new iPad Pro models by the end of this month or in April.
The forthcoming refreshed iPad Pro models will bring major changes to the table, which include a new OLED display, a revamped design, and possibly MagSafe technology. Internally, the device will house the company's new M3 chip for enhanced computational and graphical performance. The best part about the entire upgrade is that the company is ending the display discrimination between the two models, which means that the 11-inch and 13-inch models will both come with the OLED display onboard.
Apart from the new additions, Gurman states that Apple's suppliers are ramping up production. Originally, the company decided to release the new iPad in March or April. The delay is also caused by the complex new manufacturing techniques, which makes sense since the company is developing the device from the ground up. However, the company is finishing the software for the new devices, possibly with exclusive features for the new models.
Other than the launch of the OLED iPad Pro, Apple is also planning to introduce the new iPad Air models with upgraded internals. The iPad Air and iPad Pro models are also speculated to feature Face ID and a front camera in landscape orientation instead of portrait on the current models. We will keep you guys updated on the new timeline, so be sure to stick around.
