Stores across the US and other parts of the world are adopting Apple Pay as their host payment system for transactions. Considering the popularity, the Cupertino tech titan is advancing forward to be the best alternative for payment services. However, Apple's arch rival, Samsung is also bidding to the success of its digital payment system - Samsung Pay. Samsung Pay was initially announced this year on the 1st of March and many speculations have been made for its release date.
Today, the Korean electronics, Samsung announced the release date for its upcoming payment system. According to reports from Whowired Korea, Samsung has allegedly announced that the digital mobile payment system, Samsung Pay will be released in the second half of 2015. US has been given the initiate to host Samsung Pay for the first time instead of South Korea.
Samsung Pay To Be Released In The Second Half Of 2015
Samsung Pay's release in the US target Apple Pay's authority undoubtedly. The direct competition will overhaul many opportunities in the digital payment system. Managing Director of Samsung Electronics, Park Jin-Young said,
"The consecutive release schedule to the rest of the other countries following Korea and the US in the second half of the year is still under discussion. The compatibility option with the smart watch will only be disclosed during the launch."
The statement by Jin-Young was made after the quarter 1 earnings of Samsung Electronics whereby it reflects more than just the release date. It seems that Samsung Pay will not be restricted to its smartphones, but in the near future, the payment service will also make move to the wearable technology, the smart watches. Probably the details will pop out in the future where the need to upgrade Samsung's next smart watch is concerned.
By the look of it, the mobile payment system in wearable will be announced soon after Samsung releases the next in line smart watch. Apple Pay is moving fast ahead and the digital payment system has already been introduced in the recently released Apple Watch that works quite well for convenience.
