In terms of design, the upcoming 2019 iPhone XI is expected to deliver handsets with an iterative update, suggesting that on the outside, there isn’t necessarily going to be a lot to be excited about. However, one particular bit might pique your interest. As claimed by some outlets before, a new report alleges that the 2019 iPhones will have a square bulge on them to house the rear cameras, with the more premium models expected to feature a triple camera setup mounted at the back.

Molds Show Dual Camera for the Cheaper iPhone XR Successor, Confirming the Existence of a Telephoto Lens

The newly leaked pictures show that the high-end iPhones will have three cameras, while the iPhone XR successor will feature two. Moreover, they also show that the sensors will be arranged in a triangular shape on the more premium models, while they will be vertically stacked on the relatively inexpensive model. The way the lenses have been arranged looks rather odd and if the final product looks exactly the same, it remains to be seen how these devices will look and how the eccentric design will go down with Apple fans.

The said pictures are of case moldings, which were apparently made using the schematics of the 2019 iPhones. The schematics and dimensions were apparently picked up from Foxconn’s factory. Molds are used by case makers to check compatibility to make sure nothing is out of place.

Apart from the camera array, the design of the next-generation iPhones is expected to be similar to that of the iPhone XS series. It is also being speculated that the camera system will be color coordinated with the back of the iPhone. According to earlier rumors, the third camera unit on the two high-end models would be a wide-angle lens while the telephoto lens is expected to provide 3x optical zoom.

The new iPhones are also expected to support reverse wireless charging. This is something that a couple of Android flagships already support, but we have to see how beneficial it will be on the upcoming iPhone models. While the two premium models will offer optical capabilities that might rival that of the Galaxy S10 lineup, having an additional lens on the much cheaper iPhone XR successor opens up more possibilities and options for the end user without having to fork over a lot of money. Let us hope that these upgrades are sufficient to help Apple report impressive revenue numbers in the coming months.
