Xiaomi wants to get in on the action of getting early Snapdragon 845 shipments as well as to get an early lead in the smartphone market with the announcement of the Mi7. Rumor has it that the flagship is going to be announced during the first quarter of 2018, bearing high-end internals.

6-Inch Display Rumored on the Xiaomi Mi7 – Manufacturer Could Reduce Smartphone Footprint by Cutting Off Bezels

Samsung’s Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are slated for an earlier release in 2018, but it looks like the company’s rivals are looking to stop the Korean mammoth from gaining that traction in the market, which includes LG and Xiaomi.

A Weibo leakster claims that the Mi7 will have a 6-inch OLED display and will be announced in Q1, 2018. This means that the phone might be showcased during the CES 2018 trade show or MWC 2018, but we’ll wait for more details to follow to provide you with hard evidence related to the announcement.

One detail that caught our attention was the 6-inch OLED display. This could mean that the flagship might have a smaller footprint on account of reduced bezels like the Galaxy S9. We don’t believe that Xiaomi would take the screen-to-body ratio to insane levels like it is going to do with the Mi MIX 2 because that will mean the first flagship will fetch a higher price tag, and Xiaomi is definitely not about that, as seen from the pricing of previous flagships.

As for the internals, the Mi7 could fetch a Snapdragon 845, but with a previous rumor claiming that the initial shipments of the aforementioned SoC could be given to Samsung, the official release of Xiaomi’s flagship could be scheduled later in the year.
