Today, Ubisoft announced some changes to its Ubisoft+ subscription service. The multi-access and PC access will now be known as Ubisoft+ Premium, featuring access to the latest games and DLCs. On the other hand, Ubisoft+ Classics (previously available on PlayStation Plus as part of the Extra and Premium subscription tiers) now becomes its own subscription available on PC.

Director of Subscription Philippe Tremblay explained the difference between the two:

Premium means day one access to new releases and in some cases, like Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, early access to upcoming new releases. This is on top of our extensive back catalog, where you'll have access to premium editions, DLC, and monthly rewards. All of this is offered on Xbox, PC, and Amazon Luna, and you'll only need to subscribe once to have access to these games across all these platforms. Players can subscribe to Ubisoft+ Premium for a monthly fee of $17.99.

Alternatively, players can subscribe to Ubisoft+ Classics, a curated selection of our most popular back-catalog games, like Far Cry 6, Rainbow Six Siege, and Watch Dogs: Legion. This catalog will grow with time, is included for PlayStation+ Extra and PlayStation+ Premium Members, and is now available on PC through the Ubisoft Store for $7.99 per month.

Tremblay also shared some data on Ubisoft+. According to him, 'millions' of users have subscribed since the service became available four years ago, registering over 600 million hours of gameplay. Tremblay said 2023 has been a banner year for the subscription, and October in particular became the month with the highest active users (MAUs) since the debut of Ubisoft+, likely due to Assassin's Creed Mirage and The Crew Motorfest.

Tremblay didn't have any major updates on the addition of Activision Blizzard games:

We know players are excited about that, and I am too. We're working on the offering right now to make sure it's the best possible experience for our subscribers, and we'll have more to share later.

As you probably are aware, Ubisoft acquired the global cloud gaming rights to Activision Blizzard's IPs for the next fifteen years. Microsoft had to sell them to a third party to get the approval of the UK's CMA regulator. As such, Ubisoft+ will soon allow subscribers to play Call of Duty and Diablo via cloud, but there's no date yet.
