Get Android Notifications on Your Windows 10 PC – Feature Rolls Out
At its Build developer conference 2016, Microsoft announced a feature that caught everyone’s attention: notification syncing for Android and Windows 10 Mobile with Windows 10 PC. If you love your Windows 10 PC and your Android smartphone, there won’t be a better way to sync both than the native support that Microsoft promised.
Users can now sync Android with Windows 10 PC
The promised feature of Windows 10 notification syncing is now available for Android via Cortana, as the feature seems to be rolling out to some users. With Cortana on Android, you can enable to receive all the notifications from your Android device right on your Windows 10 PC. To be one of the first few to test out this feature, you will be have to be on the Insider program’s Fast ring. Download and install the recently released Windows 10 Redstone build 14342 to get Android notifications on your Windows 10 machine. Windows 10 Anniversary update will hopefully bring Android notification syncing to the public release. We reported earlier:
[…] a future Windows 10 update will bring you the convenience of getting your Android notifications directly on your Windows 10 PC. Messages, calls and other notifications from your Android device will appear on your Windows 10 computer.
Using its Cortana app for Android, the company will enable support for notification mirroring. Not only will you receive these notifications, but will also be able to respond to these directly from your PC.
To get the notifications, you need to have the latest version of Cortana on your Android phone, which should be running Android Lollipop or later. Once you setup Cortana (using the same Microsoft account) on your Android device, head over to settings to enable and configure it. With this feature on, you can get all the notifications from your Android on your Windows 10 PC. The best thing is you can configure if you want to enable it only for some specific apps, which will ensure that you aren’t swamped with tons of notifications that arrive on your Android device.
This feature is still not available for Windows 10 Mobile, but it should be coming for Microsoft’s very own mobile operating system very soon too. In the meantime, do try out Android notification syncing with your Windows 10 PC and let us know if you like it.
