Starfield players know the Starborn moniker very well, as it's discussed thoroughly in the main storyline of Bethesda's latest sci-fi role-playing game. However, a trademark registered earlier this month by Bethesda (and spotted by the ever-vigilant Timur222) suggests Starborn could be the title of an upcoming expansion for the game.

As a reminder, Bethesda Game Studios is currently working on the first expansion, Shattered Space. Due to launch at some point in the Fall season for PC and Xbox Series S|X, here's its official description:

A mysterious power stirs in the city of Dazra on House Va'Ruun's hidden homeworld. Investigate a frightening cosmic threat, explore a new planet, and find unique weapons, spacesuits, and gear in this all-new adventure.

Todd Howard revealed that Shattered Space will take place on a single planet, which should bring back the exploration feeling that was somewhat missing from the base game. We also learned that it is roughly as big as Fallout 4's Far Harbor, which lasted around 15 hours.

On that occasion, Howard also mentioned that Shattered Space would be the first in a series of 'annual story expansions'. It follows that Starborn could launch next year, with Bethesda planning to support Starfield for a long time, just like it did with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4. However, those games didn't get annual expansions. Bethesda is leveling up in that regard.
