On Twitter, RGcloudS started a comprehensive thread discussing Samsung’s and TSMC’s next-generation manufacturing nodes. Inside that thread, we spotted that he was talking about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, which is Qualcomm’s higher-performing Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 variant exclusively meant for Samsung’s Galaxy S24 lineup next year. The tipster claims that the new SoC will be able to deliver a single-core result of 2,000 points, beating the A17 Bionic.

Given that Geekbench 6 recently launched, he is likely referring to the scores obtained by the upcoming chipset while running Geekbench 5. For reference, the A16 Bionic scores around 1,800+ points, and with the A17 Bionic expected to focus on power efficiency rather than performance, there is a possibility that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy becomes the new smartphone king of single-core performance.

The only question is, who will Qualcomm choose to mass manufacture the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3; TSMC or Samsung? It is possible that Qualcomm adopts a dual-sourcing approach, where both TSMC and Samsung are involved, but it is too early to make assumptions, just like it is too early to hype up the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy.
