Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, the definitive edition of the fifth entry in the series by ATLUS, is launching on PC and consoles this June, complete with brand-new content.

Announced during today's Nintendo Direct, the game will launch on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S and will feature an additional story chapter with two complete story paths, new locations, new demons, and new choices to shape the Nahobino's fate. The announcement trailer providing a first look at this new edition of the game can be watched below.

The Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance announcement doesn't come as a surprise, as the game was rated in Korea earlier this week, and a PC version was leaked back in 2021. Still, it is good there's an official confirmation of the game launching on platforms more powerful than the Switch, as the original release was really limited by the console's specs, as I highlighted in my review.

While on the field, Shin Megami Tensei V runs at an uncapped framerate, and the performance varies wildly, ranging from very short moments where the game runs at 60 FPS to moments when it visibly drops below 30 FPS. Generally, having a few character models on screen is more than enough for performance to tank, and given how many demons roam the field, the game never runs smoothly outside of combat, which definitely feels better thanks to the 30 FPS cap. The uneven performance while exploring fields also leads to a small but noticeable input delay that, while not massive, does make moving and jumping on the big fields feel a little off.

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance launches on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and Nintendo Switch on June 21st. The original version of the game is available exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
