Samsung has reserved around three-quarters of the Galaxy S26 series' initial production run for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which constitutes an indirect admission of sorts on the part of the South Korean tech behemoth that the other two variants in the lineup won't attract a lot of consumer interest.
The lopsided initial production run of the Galaxy S26 series: Galaxy S26 Ultra gets 3.6 million units, while the base S26 and S26+ will have to make do with a cumulative initial volume of just 1.3 million units
As per the latest tidbit from Ice Universe, Samsung has planned an initial production run of 3.6 million units for the Galaxy S26 Ultra. On the other hand, the other two variants in the series get a substantially reduced initial production run, with the base Galaxy S26 relegated to 700,000 units and the Galaxy S26+ to just 600,000 units.
Do note that, as per historical norms, the Ultra variant usually commands a 50 percent share of the sales mix for Samsung's S-series. However, this time around, as per the initial production volumes, the Ultra variant is expected to command an aberrant 73.5 percent of the series' sales mix.
As we noted recently in a dedicated post, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to sport a number of color options, including the stunning Cobalt Violet.
Do note that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to debut with rounded edges, a dedicated camera island featuring a triple-camera setup, an all-black color option (including the frame), a USB-C port, an S Pen, and a 5,000mAh battery (some sources have pointed to a 5,200mAh battery).
Meanwhile, in what constitutes a new star attraction for the upcoming Galaxy S26 series, Samsung is bringing its Flex Magic Pixel OLED technology to the lineup, enabling what is now being dubbed a 'Privacy Display.' Basically, the technology leverages AI to dim angular viewing angles without affecting the screen brightness for a head-on viewing experience. This would prevent anyone from snooping on your smartphone-related activities from lateral angles.
Bear in mind that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will be exclusively powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, while the Galaxy S26+ and the base Galaxy S26 will feature Samsung's in-house Exynos 2600 chip in select regions.
