As Samsung gears up for the big launch of its sixth generation foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, at the Unpacked 2024 to be taking place in July, new reports have emerged claiming that the event might take you by surprise with the price of the devices. With varied speculations flooding around the much-hyped event, we cannot be certain which prediction is closer to the truth, especially with contradictory news that is dropping every now and then. The recent report, however, seems to offer exclusive information about the Galaxy Z series.
New reports claim a price surge for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 series owing to the new processor and the AI features incorporated
A Greek publication, Techmaniacs claims to have insights into the Unpacked event and know all about it. Despite the publication affirming the credibility of the news source, we are still doubtful about the accuracy. From what it looks like, the information might reveal some important plans the company has.
Prior reports have all pointed towards Samsung heading for a July 10th date for its major event, but that seems to have changed, as the company is heading for July 24th to make the big reveal. This shift might be attributed to the Summer Olympics that the tech giant plans on sponsoring.
Since it will be the leading global sponsor for the grand sports event, the company intends to capitalize on this and utilize the event to promote the upcoming devices. While we are doubtful that Samsung would be planning the Galaxy Unpacked in such close proximity to the Olympics, it could be that the company intends to announce the foldable devices on July 10 but will release the series on the 24th, similar to its typical pattern.
One of the major updates proclaimed by the source is a price boost for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6, going forward with €100/$100 price hike from the previous models. This jump is huge, given how the publication suggests no major hardware improvements and a 50MP main camera for the Flip. New AI integrations are going to be part of the Z variants, but that cannot completely justify the price spike. Perhaps the only valid reason for the retail price increase could be because both phones would be powered exclusively by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, which is a higher-end component and, hence, reflects on the end price.
The date shift and the price surge for the flip phones are not the only two claims by the publication, which goes on with two more peculiar reveals, one of which particularly is the statement regarding the much-awaited, first-of-a-kind Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra being nullified and now being replaced with Galaxy X. The Galaxy X is said to offer better build quality and improved battery size and would be relatively higher priced than the other Galaxy Watch 7 models. It also suggests that we would not see the FE edition or any other foldable variant at the Unpacked, while previous reports have asserted otherwise.
While all these speculations seem disappointing in terms of the offerings, one good news is the Galaxy Ring, which would mark its place as the first smart ring that might be launched at the big event. Only time will tell if these claims are, in fact, spitting facts or whether they are just speculations that are as bizarre as they sound.
