After months of speculation, Capcom finally revealed Resident Evil: Veronica during Summer Game Fest 2026, the latest entry in the company's string of remakes that began with Resident Evil 2 back in 2019. Now that we know to expect Veronica in 2027, fans immediately turn to what's coming after that in the remake cycle, which is currently believed to be a remake of Resident Evil 0. Though, according to reliable leaker Dusk Golem, that remake's development isn't having the smoothest run, and may have been rebooted once already.
That claim came from Dusk Golem in reply to a user expressing concern about the Resident Evil 0 remake, particularly if the team behind the Resident Evil 3 Remake is the one leading the project. Out of the three remakes Capcom has done so far (RE2, RE3, RE4), the critical consensus for the RE3 remake is that it's the weakest of the bunch so far. Though it found commercial success, it made several sweeping changes that both critics and fans disagreed with, so it's understandable as to why players would have concerns about that same team leading the RE0 remake.
Well, those concerns were not unfounded, as something seemingly went wrong during the remake's development, as Golem claims the game's development was rebooted and has in fact been handed off to Capcom's Division 1 team.
Of course, it's worth noting this is just a rumour, so take it with the appropriate grain of salt. Dusk Golem has proven to be a reliable source of information with regard to the Resident Evil series over the years, but their information is not infallible and should not be treated as such.
Hopefully, it's not too long after the release of Resident Evil: Veronica before we hear some actual official information on what's happening with this rumoured Resident Evil 0 Remake. In the meantime, we can look forward to Veronica, which will arrive on PC and consoles at some point in 2027.
