NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4090 GPU may not officially be available in a Noctua flavor yet but a user on Reddit has made a custom design for his card.

Custom Triple-Fan Noctua Cooler Designed For NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, Delivers 8C Lower Temps & Runs Quieter Too

The custom mod comes from a user, zaME19, in the Small Form Factor PC subreddit & looks great. The original graphics card used for this mod is an Inno3D GeForce RTX 4090 which features a non-reference PCB and makes use of a triple-fan cooling solution by default. For this Noctua mod to be fully compatible with the heatsink and the card itself, the user had to 3D Print a brand new shroud for the graphics card.

The shroud itself is a matte black design which has the proper mounting for three Noctua NF-A9 fans. These are 92mm fans with a PWM design and feature the SS02 bearing mechanism. Each fan can deliver up to 78.9 m3/h airflow with a noise output of up to 22.8 dBA. They have a rated max speed of 2000 RPM and as low as 400 RPM. The fans also come with anti-vibration pads which help lower the noise output further.

The custom-modded NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 GPU shroud easily attaches over the heatsink and uses a singular 4-pin connector that connects to the main PCB of the card.

After putting the whole thing together, the user reported that the temperatures ended up 8C lower than the Inno3D stock design and also ran quieter which means that this mod was successful. For Noctua enthusiasts, the design also looks great. The front of the shroud can easily be designed or painted according to user preferences. The card currently resides within a Mini-ITX PCB and looks great as seen in the picture below:

We have also seen other users attempt their own custom-modded NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 GPU with Noctua fans.

Noctua's fans are currently offered by ASUS and Japanese manufacturer, SYCOM, who have made several RTX 40 & RTX 30 series cards with these fans. We have yet to see the 4090 get this treatment but hopefully, we can get some high-end design featuring Noctua fans soon.
