The Galaxy S22 Ultra and Pixel 9 Pro XL are worlds apart in terms of design, but both smartphones appear to look the same, at least according to a subpar experience from a Google customer, who says that he sent out the older flagship for an immediate replacement over a green line appearing on the display. Instead of receiving a pristine new Pixel 9 Pro XL unit in the mail, he received a broken Samsung smartphone, which was seemingly sent out by the company technician.

It hardly takes a few seconds to discern between a Galaxy S22 Ultra and a Pixel 9 Pro XL, but Redditor ‘tjebakka’ was running on rotten luck since a Google technician couldn’t deduce which device is which. On the social media platform, the Pixel owner may have been excited to receive his shiny new replacement, but below summarizes what he received in return.
“I opened the package, read the card from 'the technician from Google' and unwrapped the phone and found out that I received a Samsung S22 Ultra with a broken screen. How on earth is this possible?”
Given the sheer incompetence of Google, tjebakka mistakenly wrote Galaxy S22 Ultra as Samsung S22 Ultra. To be fair, we’d probably have had a similar reaction had Google subjected us to a similar treatment, not to mention bombarding the company’s support emails asking for fair compensation.
It’s possible that one of the smartphones that Google accepted via its trade-in offer was mixed up in the shipment meant for the Redditor. Even if the Galaxy S22 Ultra had a completely functional display, we doubt it would put a smile on tjebakka’s face since the Pixel 9 Pro XL is a far superior smartphone.
Google Support is saying that they are investigating the issue and that it can take anywhere between 1 and 3 business days for a resolution. Needless to say, the Pixel 9 Pro XL isn’t going to be a part of Google’s hardware ecosystem any longer.
