Google has yet to officially launch the Pixel 9 lineup in various markets and we already have Pixel 9a images that have allegedly been spotted, showing a major design contrast compared to the company’s latest flagship series. One tipster has also provided an estimated launch timeline for the upcoming mid-ranger, and it appears that we should expect it much sooner than later.
Tipster notes that one of the Pixel 9a colors will be silver but does not mention the other specifications
The images spotted by ShrimpApplePro were taken from a Vietnamese Pixel fan Facebook group named ‘HỘI GOOGLE PIXEL VIỆT NAM.’ Thankfully, the tipster successfully uploaded the pictures to X before they were removed from the group, giving us a closer look at the Pixel 9a. From what we can tell, the handset has a camera bump that is significantly smaller than the one seen on any Pixel 9 model, leading us to believe that this particular smartphone may not be as thick as the rest of the lineup. We also noticed the rounded corners, with the rear camera setup showing two sensors and an LED flash next to the array.
A USB-C charging port is located at the bottom of the handset, along with a SIM card tray on the left and a speaker cutout on the right. More ‘exclusive’ information posted by ShrimpApplePro on X mentions the Pixel 9a’s launch, which is rumored to happen before the end of 2024. This is interesting information because Google unveiled the Pixel 9 series in August, making it two months ahead of its typical launch month of October. The Mountain View giant may want to pursue a quicker product launch to get an edge in the market.

Additionally, we have learned that the Pixel 9a will arrive in four colors, with one of them being silver. While all of these tidbits sound very exciting, we strongly recommend that readers treat this information with a pinch of salt and we will be back with more updates. After all, the Pixel 8a was announced at Google’s I/O keynote, so it is possible that the company will stick with the same event for the Pixel 9a unveiling.
