This morning, Starbreeze provided another update on PAYDAY 3, the highly anticipated third installment in the cooperative first-person heist shooter game. Firstly, the Swedish studio said the matchmaking issues that plagued the game's launch were fixed thanks to a two-stage process. The matchmaking software was updated, and the infrastructure was upgraded with more regional nodes, improving redundancy across online services and increasing matchmaking speed in PAYDAY 3.

Starbreeze also outlined the roadmap of updates that players can expect to see in PAYDAY 3 before the end of the year.

Winter 2023 The DLC “Syntax Error” on sale (included in Silver and Gold Edition

Beyond Winter 2023, the developer announced a paid DLC for each 2024 season: Boys in Blue (Spring), The Land of the Free (Summer), and Fear and Greed (Fall). This is in addition to seasonal events, new playable characters, new skill lines, new enemies, new weapons, new features, new cosmetics, quality of life features, and the upgrade to Unreal Engine 5.

Tobias Sjögren, CEO of Starbreeze Entertainment, stated:

First and foremost, I would like to thank our players for the patience they have shown us. Our community is the engine that drives both our games and our company forward. I don't really need to repeat that this was not the start we wanted, but at the same time, our business model is a marathon and not a sprint and we will tirelessly continue to build PAYDAY 3 bigger and better to deliver the greatest possible value for our players.

According to Starbreeze, the game has surpassed 3 million unique players. Last week, PAYDAY 3 peaked at 124,254 concurrent players. It's worth reminding that the game is available on Xbox Game Pass, which certainly influenced these figures.
