NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti & 2080 Gaming Performance Benchmarks Coming Soon, Cards Already in The Hands of a Lucky Few

The dust is only just starting to settle after the bombshells of Monday’s Gamescom NVIDIA RTX 20 series announcement, which has left us with more questions than answers. Namely how NVIDIA’s shiny new RTX 2080 Ti, RTX 2080 & RTX 2070 do compared to their Pascal predecessors in good ol’ gaming performance.

Very much unlike the GTX 10 series Pascal launch event a couple of years back, which was chalk full of direct comparisons of the cards and their predecessors, NVIDIA bizarrely hadn’t touched on the performance aspect at all outside of ray tracing comparisons during Monday’s reveal. Throwing around a bunch of painfully incomprehensible GIGA ray & TIPS mumbo jumbo figures only seemed to add to the confusion.

At the moment buyers are expected to make a leap of faith and put down $1200 on an RTX 2080 Ti pre-order without actually knowing how the card performs. That’s one hell of an expensive leap of faith if you ask me, but that doesn’t seem to bother some. The first batch of RTX 2080 Ti cards has already seemingly been sold out, with deliveries of new orders now expected no earlier than October 8.

[UPDATED] The earliest estimated delivery date on NVIDIA.com as of right now on an RTX 2080 Ti pre-order is Nov 12, nearly two months away from now.

NVIDIA RTX 2080 Ti & RTX 2080 Already in The Hands of a Lucky Few, Benchmarks Due Soon

For those exercising self-control and waiting for benchmarks I have good news for you. A lucky few already have RTX 2080 Ti & RTX 2080 graphics cards on hand.

Take note of the “RTX 2080 Ti” box in the upper left corner.

Word has reached us that reviewers returning from Gamescom are going to be able to start testing the new toys straight away. NVIDIA’s reviewer’s briefing is taking place tomorrow where the company is expected to hand over a working driver to reviewers, so it’s likely they could begin running benchmarks no later than this weekend.

It’s still not clear when exactly the NDA will lift and reviews are allowed to go live, but with a working driver benchmarks are bound to start leaking online. Even though full reviews may be a week or two off, you can expect to get a very a good idea of how the RTX 2080 Ti and RTX 2080 perform much sooner. As always, stay tuned for more.
