NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Ti & RTX 5060 Will Reportedly Utilize 8-Pin PCIe Connectors 1

NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 5060 Ti & RTX 5060 GPUs will reportedly retain 8-pin PCIe connectors even though a noticeable power consumption increase is expected.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Ti & RTX 5060 To Utilize Standard 8-Pin Power Connectors, 650W PSU Requirement

Several leaks regarding the RTX 5060 Ti & RTX 5060 GPUs have surfaced lately. From their rumored specifications to the launch date, we have learned some crucial things about these GPUs, but we have yet to know their core specifications. One more leak has surfaced, which suggests that your existing power supply will be sufficient for either of the 60-class GPUs, assuming you already have an 8-pin PCI-E power cable coming from your PSU.

This shouldn't be surprising though, as the NVIDIA 60-class cards are quite efficient compared to higher-end GPUs, and we had the RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 4060 boasting a TDP of 160W and 115W respectively. Nonetheless, the RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060 are expected to bring a noticeable change in power consumption, as NVIDIA is reportedly recommending a 650W PSU for these cards. This is 100W higher than what NVIDIA recommends for the RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 4060.

This was indicated in the leak by Douyin, which revealed that both the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060 will feature a single 8-pin power connector and will require a 650W wattage PSU as the recommendation. Still, a 550W will be able to power these GPUs as it's unlikely that these will have over 200W of TDP. The total power consumption, therefore, depends on the overall configuration.

The next slide shows that there will be a noticeable price bump for both GPUs as well. The RTX 5060 Ti is expected to be priced at 3,299-3,599 Yuan and the RTX 5060 at 2,599-3,399 Yuan. These prices translate to US$452-US$493 for the RTX 5060 Ti and US$356-US$466 for the RTX 5060. While the lowest expected price tag of the RTX 5060 Ti is somewhat in the price range of RTX 4060 Ti 8 GB and 16 GB editions, the RTX 5060 looks more expensive than a 60-class usually is.

As per the official MSRPs of other RTX 50 series cards, we haven't seen any price increase except in the case of the RTX 5090, but it's still possible for NVIDIA to increase the 60-class card prices, as there is supposedly no competition from AMD. The RX 9070 cards are expected to go against the RTX 5070 cards and therefore, NVIDIA is free to charge a higher price for the 60-class GPUs.

However, it seems that NVIDIA isn't interested in upgrading the VRAM configuration of the RTX 5060 GPUs and is possibly going for an 8 GB edition for the RTX 5060 Ti as well. The RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060 are expected to launch in March, and around the same time, we will see AMD's RX 9070 GPUs hitting the shelves too.
