Several German outlets have now run out of NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4090 GPUs, making it almost unavailable in the country.
Alternate, CaseKing & several other German retailers no longer have NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 GPUs
The flagship NVIDIA Ada Lovelace GPU, GeForce RTX 4090, is becoming harder to find in Germany. We have previously reported that the prices of RTX 4090 have gone drastically up in the country since last year and while it was speculated that the RTX 4090 could be discontinued in October, it has happened sooner than thought.
The RTX 4090 was rumored to stop in production as NVIDIA is planning to launch the Blackwell GPUs soon. However, the reports weren't official and mostly indicated that the GPU would be out of stock in a couple of months. It hasn't been a week since we reported about this and we are already seeing that the RTX 4090 has completely disappeared from the online retailers in Germany.
As reported by 3DCenter, one of the users on the forum reported that the RTX 4090 is no longer available to be ordered from distributors(TD Synnex, etc) and the production stopped before October. He also said that it is highly liked that the remaining production is simply not intended for Germany.
The prices of the card have gone up since 2023 on major retailers but as of now, we can confirm that the GeForce RTX 4090 isn't available on retailers like Alternate, Caseking, Mindfactory, etc. While Alternate and Caseking do show the product pages, users won't be able to buy the GPU. On Mindfactory, the product pages have disappeared altogether. Currently, each of these retailers have only three RTX 4090 models listed with Mindfactory only having 2 models in stock while one is essentially available on a pre-order basis.
As for Amazon.de, at the time of writing, only one edition seems to be in stock but not for long. It is the Inno3D GeForce RTX 4090 ICHILL X3 edition, currently selling at €2,486.88. In the past few weeks, it was seen that even though the RTX 4090 was having regular availability, the prices went up. This was mostly because sellers wanted to get rid of the entire inventory.
However, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 is available in most parts of the world and even though the availability might not be as good as before, users can still buy a lot of editions from different vendors from different retail websites. It's possible that in the coming weeks, the RTX 4090 will start to disappear in various other parts of the world too and once the discontinuation starts, enthusiasts have to wait for the Blackwell gaming GPUs.
Currently, Newegg US is offering the 4090 for a starting price of $1900 US which is $300 US above its MSRP of $1600 US. The card launched almost two years back so we should've seen a discount by now but that's no longer the case. Instead of discounting the card, NVIDIA may simply be ending production to allow AIBs and retail partners to lower flagship quantities to make room for the next-gen launches.
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 is currently the fastest gaming GPU on the planet, boasting 16384 Cuda Cores and 24 GB GDDRX6X memory on a 384-bit bus. The RTX 5090 is set to take over the RTX 4090 with 21760 Cuda Cores, 32 GB of GDDR7 memory on a 512-bit bus, and a higher TDP of 600W. It's expected that NVIDIA will launch the RTX 5090 and 5080 together at CES 2025 along with NVIDIA RTX 50 series Laptop GPUs.
